• The Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre's fund-raising committee announces a Super-Brunswick Stew and Bake Sale Saturday, February 4, from 9 a.m.  until.  350-400 quarts are expected to be available for sale.  The proceeds will help benefit the opening in the 2012 season.  Place Brunswick Stew orders by calling 336-376-6948 or 1-800-726-5115.

• Saturday, February 4 at 9 a.m. there will be a Chatham Coupon Swap at Courtyard Coffee and Soda Shoppe, on Chatham Avenue -   a fun time to swap out those coupons you can't use for coupons you can.  Bring any coupons that you would like to swap in an envelope or box.

• Legal Aid of North Carolina will host a Do-It-Yourself Divorce Workshop on Friday, February 10 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at 959 East Street, Pittsboro. Workshops are open to the public. For more information, call 1-800-672-5834.

• This month’s Planning Board meeting will be held Tuesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Henry H. Dunlap, Jr. Building, Classroom in Pittsboro.

• The Local Audubon Society will have their monthly membership meeting on February 7 at 7 p.m. at the NC Botanical Gardens. Duke University professor Alexander Glass will present “Extracting Oil and Gas using Franking: A Primer for North Carolinians. No charge and everyone is welcome. Streamwatch will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, February 4 to monitor pollutants and microorganisms in the New Hope Creek to gauge water quality. • The Orange/Chatham Sierra Club Group will meet Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. at the CCCC, Bldg 2 Multipurpose Room in Pittsboro in reference to Why NC Shouldn’t Frack.  Colleen Kendrick of Deep River Clean Water Society and Elaine Chiosso, Haw Riverkeeper, Haw River Assembly will discuss experiences in other states, shale gas in Chatham and other counties, the politics of energy, and how to protect families, communities, land, water, and air from the risks of fracking.

• Registration is now open for Chatham Habitat for Humanity's Third Annual Chatham 3RingCycle, set for Saturday, May 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the C.C.C.C. campus in Pittsboro. The bicycle ride features 30, 60, and 100 mile loops on scenic roads throughout rural Chatham County. Proceeds benefit Chatham Habitat for Humanity. Cyclists can sign up on-line via ChathamHabitat.org/3RingCycle where there are links to the sportoften.com registration page and to a printable registration form for mailing. Those who register by May 9 are guaranteed a free event t-shirt.
