• Civil War Living History and Encampment Saturday, 09-18-04, from 10 am until 6 pm at Martha’s Chapel Church on the corner of Hwy 751 and Martha’s Chapel Road sponsored by the Cedar Fork Rifles, Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 1827 of Chatham County. Confederate Re-enactors portraying Infantry, Artillery and Cavalry. Conduct genealogical research for those interested in identifying or finding Confederate ancestors. There will be many resources on hand to find your ancestor that was killed or died from disease during the war. Food available on the premises from noon until 2 pm. |

• Benefit fund raiser for the Randolph County Honor Guard, sponsored by Sophia Support Club will be Saturday, 09-18-04 from 11 am to 6 pm at the National Guard Armory, off S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro. Grilled Chicken or BBQ plates, $6 (children 12 and under $4). Raffle tickets available and an auction will be held at 7 pm. • The annual Gaines Reunion will be held Sunday, September 19 at 1:00 pm at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 42, approximately 2 miles north of Carbonton. Remind family members and plan to bring favorite dishes. |

• The 16th annual reunion of the descendants of George and Sarah Burke and John Asa and Emily Fields will be held on September 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sandy Branch Baptist Church Activity Building. • The reunion of the descendants of Charles and Mary Burke will be held Sunday, September 26 at Rives Chapel Church. The covered dish meal is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Call 336-924-6220 for information, if there are any questions. |

• NC Sandhills Peach report for September 12-18, 2004, the stands now have apples, muscadines, pumpkins, and late variety peaches. Late season peaches are ripening ahead of schedule with the following varieties available: Autumn Blush, Autumn Lady, Autumn Prince, Georgia White (w), California 2810. |

• Family and friends are invited to attend the annual Dixon Family Reunion to be held on Sunday, September 19 at the Lou Clark Recreational Park across from Oakley Baptist Church at 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road in Siler City. A covered dish luncheon will be served at 1:00 p.m. |
