• The Rocky River Coon Hunters Association is hosting their annual fall dog show October 16, 2004. Bench Show 4:30 pm, Treeing contest 5:30, and the hunt held at 7:30 pm that night. Bring the whole family for a good time. Concessions will be furnished by Asbury Methodist Men. Both groups are non-profit organizations. Location: just off 15-501 between Sanford and Pittsboro. • Open Bluegrass Pickin’, October 16 at Reno Sharpe’s Store, beginning at 10 am. On the corner of Goldston-Pittsboro Road and Reno Sharpe Store Road between Pittsboro and Goldston.  If you pick, bring your instrument (acoustic only). Free and open to the public.

• Pre-School Storytime at McIntyre’s is held every Wednesday at 10:30 am. For more information, call Sarah at 919-542-3030.

• Wine Tasting at Fowlers, every Saturday at 1:00 pm will feature a free wine tasting until 3 pm. Pick up great tips on wine. Call 919-545-5717 for further information.

• The Southeast Chatham Citizen’s Advisory Council (SCCAC) will meet Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 pm, at the Liberty-Chapel Church in Moncure. We welcome and encourage participation of all residents, business and organizations within our community.

•  Civil War Reenactment – the 27th NC Regiment, Co. D, a local reenacting unit, is seeking new recruits from central and eastern North Carolina for the upcoming fall campaign. The 27th NC portrays a typical confederate infantry regiment,  which would have received supplies from the Raleigh Depot. Anyone interested in participating in living history programs, battle reenactments, and preservation efforts can obtain additional information and a recruiting packet by contact Bryan Craddock at (919) 467-9342.

• In celebration of National Business Women’s Week, Siler City Business and Professional Women’s Club will be holding their annual Fashion Show and Luncheon at 12 noon – 1 pm on Wednesday, October 20 at the Siler City Country Club. All area women are encouraged to attend. Contact Lu Anne Johnson at 837-2936 for reservations. This is a scholarship fund-raiser event.

• The Dream Home can be toured in The Hills of Rosemont on October 15 – 17. Proceeds from sales of the decorations and all proceeds from building the house will go to the Eastern Chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

• Chatham County United will be having their first annual picnic on Saturday, October 16 from 4 to 6 pm at Patrick Barnes shop (274 McCoy Road across from the old Bell’s School). Bring yourself and a friend, a side dish (beans, cole slaw, dessert, etc.) and chairs. Everything else to go with hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided.

• Chatham County Teen Court will be held in the District Courtroom in the Courthouse Annex in Pittsboro on Thursday, October 14 at 6:30 pm. All interested youth ages 11-18 are welcome to participate as jury members. For more information, please call 542-4075.
