• The American Legion, Post 93 will meet at the Dry Dock Restaurant, Thursday at 6:30 p.m., May 27. All members are encouraged to be present. |

• The Chatham County Association of Educational Office Professionals will hold its third annual blood drive on Thursday, June 3, 2004 from 11 am to 3:30 pm in the multipurpose room at Pittsboro Elementary School. For an appointment, contact Jemma Johnson at 542-3626, ext. 226. |

• Saturday, June 5, 2004, Jordan Lake will celebrate National Trail Day with the opening of the New Hope Trail. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned and a park ranger will lead participants on a two-hour, two-and-a-half-mile segment of the trail beginning at noon. Some interesting features along this trail include scenic views of the lake, groves of mountain laurel, and a few really good hills to hike. Photo exhibits of the trail and trail work will be on display. |

• Monday, May 31 at 11 am, Marc Haddon will read from his new debut novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, at McIntyre’s Fine Books and Book Ends. On Saturday, May 29 at 11 am, Sarah Dessen will be there reading from her new novel, The Truth About Forever. Sunday, May 30, Janet Lembke will be reading from The Quality of Life; Living Well, Dying Well. Reading are free and open to the public. |

• The Randolph Arts Guild presents their Juried Art Show at the Moring Arts Center Main Gallery, June 1 through June 30.
