• Growing Up-Buckled Up Car Seat Clinic will be held at the Super WalMart in Siler City on Friday, June 25, 2004 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Chatham County Safe Communities/SAFE KIDS Coalition is offering a FREE car seat clinic to teach parents-caregivers how to select the best car seat for their child, how to correctly install them, check for recalls, and learn how to secure children properly every time they ride. • West Chatham NAACP Youth Chapter Youth Conference, June 26, 2004 12 noon – 4 pm at Jordan Matthews High School Gym. Theme: “Achieving the Dream”. Speakers: Mrs. Gina Dean, NAACP State and College Advisor; Ms. Lafonda Jones, FAMM NC Project Director, Families Against Mandatory Minimums. Registration begins at 11:30 am. $5 per youth includes conference, pool party at Bray Park, 6 pm to 9. Food will be served. • Pittsboro Memorial Library presents “Songs and Tales Along new Trails” with Faye Stanley, Friday, June 25 at 11 am, and is for elementary school aged children only.  This is the weekly program in the 2004 summer reading series. For more information, call 542-3524.

•  Celebrate July 4 with Live Music, Fun, Food and Fireworks! Chapel Hill’s annual celebration with free entertainment and a fireworks display at the UNC’s Kenan Memorial Stadium on Sunday July 4, 2004. Performers will take the stage form 7 pm to 9:25 with fireworks display scheduled at 9:30 pm. Recommended parking is in the Craig, Dogwood, and Cardinal parking Decks off of Manning Drive.  Disability parking will be available in the Bell Tower Lot.  Alcohol is prohibited.
• Coach Barbara Rusher is looking for a few good volleyball players for her 2004-2005 CCCC women’s team.  Interested players must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time at CCCC. • American Legion Post 93 will meet at the Dry Dock Restaurant at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 24. Members are encouraged to attend.

• Bynum Front Porch Music Series at The Bynum General Store, 7 pm to 9:30 – Bobby Gales with Gospel Grass & The Parsons on June 25; Rod Picott, July 9; The Gigi Dover Band, July 16, and Big Medicine, July 23.

• Free Diabetes and Blood pressure screening will be held Thursday, June 24, 2004 from 10 am to 5 pm at Siler City Pharmacy, 202-A East Raleigh Street, Siler City, NC 27344.

• Chatham County Together!’s Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 29, beginning at 5:30 pm. in the Parish Hall at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Chruch, 204 West Salisbury Street, Pittsboro.  The public is invited to attend. Dinner will be served. RSVP to 542-5155 or cct@emji.net.

• Tractor Pull, June 26, 2004 at Chatham County Fairgrounds. Gate opens at 9 am. For admissions information and individual class pull-times, call 542-2202, 542-4576, or 542-3950.

• The Pittsboro Memorial Library announces its new hours, effective July 1, 2004. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm. Tuesdays, 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. Library located at 158 West Street.
• Every Monday at 6:30 pm. for the month of July, Narcotics Anonymous meeting will be held at Alston Chapel Church.
• The Motorcycle Association for Chatham, Western Wake, Lee, Orange, Alamance Counties meets in Pittsboro and is open to all riders. For information, call 919-392-3939 or visit www.ChathamCBA.com.
