• The Pittsboro Memorial Library presents a staff puppet show titled “Folk Tales and Trails” as the first event in the 2004 summer reading program. The show is Friday, June 18 at 11 am and is for elementary school aged children only. Call the library at 542-3524 for more information. 

• The annual Seagrove Summerfest is set for June 18, 19, & 20. It will feature pottery perfect for summer entertaining. The event will be held at individual shops throughout the Seagrove area. For more information, call the office of the Museum of NC Traditional Pottery at  336-873-7887 or Richard Gillson at 336-873-7300.

• The Salvation Army, Chatham County will be having a ribbon cutting for their new office in Siler City, located at 136 North Chatham Avenue. The ribbon cutting will be Thursday, June 17 at 1 pm. The public is invited.

• Join the Council on Aging travelers club for a shopping day to Greensboro. Stops will include Garden Ridge, Ross Dress for Less, Kohls and lunch. Group will leave from the Council on Aging in Pittsboro at 8:30 am and from the Roses (Flea Mall) parking lot in Siler City at 9 am on Wednesday, June 23, 2004. Cost for transportation is $8 – call to reserve a space. For more information, call Pam King at 742-3975.

• The Chatham Charter School Board will conduct its monthly business meeting on Friday, June 18 at 8 am at the school. The meeting is open to the public.
• Kaplan Test prep & Admissions will be hosting a free Law Forum on Thursday, June 17 at the UNC School of Law from 6-9 pm. Anyone interested in pursuing a career in law or law school in the near future would greatly benefit from this event. Advanced registration is highly encouraged for this event as seating is limited.  1-800-KAP-TEST or www.kaptest.com.

•  Preschool art and craft classes for ages 3, 4, and 5 will be offered at the Pittsboro Memorial Library on Wednesdays, June 23, June 30 and July 14 at 10:30 am. Caroline Resnick is the instructor. Call the library at 542-3524 to register.

• The Carolina Mountain Dulcimer Players will meet in the ground floor Community Room at Carol Woods in Chapel Hill on Thursday, June 17 (and every third Thursday) at 7 p.m. Beginner or expert, come join us. For further information, call Shirley Ray at 919-929-5359 or e-mail ShirleyRay@aol.com.
• June 18 – July 14, 2004, “Job Hunting Made Easier”, the Human Resources Development Program at CCCC is offering this course which covers topics such as resumes, interviews, applications and job hunting methods. Unemployed adults seeking employment can take this class at no cost. Others may qualify for a fee waiver.
