• Pittsboro Farmers’ Markets with lots of local produce, etc., Thursdays, 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, 191 County Garage Road, Pittsboro, and Tuesdays, 4 pm until dusk, 2000 Fearrington Village Center, Pittsboro.

• The Southeast Chatham Citizen’s Advisory Council (SCCAC) will meet Tuesday, June 15 at Liberty-Chapel Church, Moncure. Participation of residents, businesses, and organization within our community is encouraged.

• The Salvation Army is looking for any type of household furniture in good condition, linens, dishes, and cookware. Items are for needy family in Chatham County. Call 542-1593 or 663-0443 if you can help.

• Volunteer Animal Cruelty Investigators wanted by the Animal Control Division of the Chatham County Public Health Department. See webpage (www.chathampublichealth.org & click on Animal Control Services) or contact the Clerk of the Board at 542-8200 for more information.

• Chatham County summer 4-H campers will attend Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center located near Reidsville, Sunday-Friday, July 25-30. Applications are still being accepted for the limited number of spaces still available. Penn resident 4-H camp programs are designed primarily for youth ages 8 through 13. Four-H member-ship is not required for attendance at 4-H camp. • The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course will give you the safety skills to be a babysitter. 7 hours activities, videos and discussions, first aid and basic care skills practice, professional, leadership and care-giving skills, safety skills to prevent emergencies, how to manage real life problems, including emergencies, Baby-sitter’s Handbook. $35, Class size is limited, ages 12 – 15. • The Chatham County FSA Office will be closed, Friday, June 11, 2004 by executive order of President George W. Bush. All Federal government agencies shall be closed on June 11, 2004, as a mark of respect for Ronald Reagan, the fortieth President of the United States. The Chatham FSA office will reopen Monday, June 14.

• Clyde Fest…live music, folk art, barbeque and fun for all ages, Saturday, June 19, 11 am to 5 pm at Shakori Hills Farms, 1419 Henderson Tanyard Road near Silk Hope. Rain date: June 20. • The Siler City Business and Professional Women’s Club will meet at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, June 10 at Bestfood Cafeteria Banquet Room. Members and guests are asked to proceed through the cafeteria line upon arrival.

• Tuesday, June 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., “Friends of Mary Wallace” are hosting an opportunity for Chatham County residents to meet and talk with Mary before the upcoming election. Hot dogs and all the trimmings as well as drinks will be provided. Dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair to The Ferguson House, 6285 US 64 West, Pittsboro.

• Hollyhill Daylily Festival, Saturday and Sundays, June 5 – July 25. More than 3 acres of daylilies, display gardens, and artworks.

• The Chatham County Soil and Water Conservation District will meet Thursday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference room downstairs in the Agricultural Building in Pittsboro. This is an open meeting, for additional information, call 919-542-8240.

• Randolph County’s Alzheimer’s Support Group Network would like to invite those interested to attend their upcoming meeting, Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 7 p.m. at John Tote Room/Alzheimer’s Care Center, Cross Road Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27205. Topic will be Stress Management.

• Special Olympics Chapel Hill-Orange County seek volunteer swim coaches for 2004 summer swim program. Youth practices, Tuesday, 5:30 pm and 6:25 pm; adults, Thursday, 5:30 pm and 6:25 pm, all at the Chapel Hill Community Center, June 22 – August 12. • Chatham Coalition has issued it first edition of their campaign newsletter that they will send regularly until the July 20 primary for county commis-sioners and election for school board to get out information on issues and events as the campaign progresses.
