• American Red Cross announces its August schedule for CPR and First Aid Training at the Siler City Presbyterian Church. Adult CPR will be taught Monday, August 23; Infant and Child CPR will be taught, Tuesday, August 24; and First Aid will be taught Thursday, August 26. All classes will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:30. • The Chatham Charter School Board will conduct its monthly meeting on Friday, August 20 at 8:00 am at the school. The meeting is open to the public. |

• Mid Carolina blood drive schedule includes an August 8 stop at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Liberty from 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. |

• The Chatham County Democratic party will hold an informational meeting for all women interested in forming a Democratic Women’s Caucus, Wednesday, August 11 at 7 p.m. at the Pittsboro library. Call 545-0545 for more information. |

• The Chatham County Public Health Department and Community Diabetes Advocates are holding a diabetes support group on August 9 at 6:30 pm at Family Resource Center, 225 Chatham Square. Topic will be insurance matters and diabetes. Main speaker will be Blue Cross and Blue Shield representative, Bruce Foraker. After a short presentation on America’s Walk for Diabetes, attendees will have a chance to discuss the challenges of living with diabetes with other participants. • Join the Music and fun at Reno Sharpe’s Store on Saturday, August 7 for Gospel Music from 9 am until we run out of groups. If you pick, bring your instrument (acoustic instruments only). Free and open to the public. Come if you want to sing or just listen. |

• Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom is a sponsor of the Orange County Peace Coalition, who will be holding a Candlelight vigil in memory of those who died during the bombing of Hiroshima, on the 59th anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing.
